Leather is skin. Keep it clean, keep it dry, and don’t overfeed it.
After every game
- Wipe off dirt and dust with a dry cloth.
- If it got wet, let it air-dry at room temperature. Never use a heater, hair dryer or a hot car.
- Store it with a ball in the pocket and the glove closed around it.
Conditioning
Use a conditioner made for glove leather, in small amounts, a few times a season. Too much oil makes leather heavy and floppy and can weaken the laces.
Off-season
Keep it somewhere cool and dry with a ball in the pocket. Don’t seal it in plastic, because leather needs to breathe. The off-season is also the best time to get it relaced so it’s ready by opening day.
